PhD-studies, Lecturer, Senior research scientist, Assist. and Assoc. Prof. (Dozent) in the field of animal nutrition at the University Leipzig, Germany

1971:

PhD thesis in poultry nutrition, University Jena

1979:

Habilitation (Postdoctoral thesis) in beef cattle nutrition, University Leipzig

 

 

1989-1994:

Full Professor of Nutritional Physiology at the Faculty of Biology and Pharmaceutics at the University Jena

1994-2009:

Director of the Institute of Animal Nutrition of the Federal Research Institute for Animal Health (FLI) in Braunschweig, Germany

Since 1996:

Honorary Professor at the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena

 

Since May 2009:

Visiting Senior Scientist at the Institute of Animal Nutrition in Braunschweig

 

 

Fields of work experience:

 

-        Nutritional physiology incl. fundamentals of human nutrition

-        Ruminant nutrition

-        Feed sciences (incl. nutritional and safety assessment of feed from GM-plants)

-        Animal nutrition and quality of food of animal origin

-        Animal nutrition and environmental aspects (incl. Carbon footprints and climate change),

-        Nutrient economy, resource efficiency and global food security
