Peadar Lawlor

 Peadar Lawlor (BAgrSc, MAgrSc, PhD; National University of Ireland (Dublin)) is a Principal Research Officer at theTeagasc, Pig Production Development Department, Animal & Grassland Research & Innovation Centre, Moorepark, Fermoy, Co Cork.  His research interests include: investigation of novel pig feed ingredients, heat processing of feed ingredients, post-market monitoring of genetically modified feed ingredients, nutritional and post-slaughter factors affecting meat eating quality, pre-natal muscle development, salmonella control and energy from pig manure. Following graduation in 1994, he worked as a Teagasc, Pig Enterprise Adviser until 1997, and then as a Research Officer in the Teagasc, Pig Husbandry Department, Moorepark until 2002. From 2002 until 2004 he taught at Teagasc, Clonakilty Agricultural College. He once again joined the renamed Teagasc, Pig Development Department in 2004 where he has since remained. He is a past member of the EFSA FEEDAP panel, a member of the chemical safety sub-committee of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland and is Editorial Board Member of Journal of Animal Science.  He was a partner on the EU FP5 SUSPORQUAL and is currently work package leader on the EU FP7 GMSAFOOD. He is also partner and task leader on EU FP7 projects TRANSUS and CANTOGETHER.  He was a country coordinator on the EU Specific Support Action PIGCAS and a management committee member of the EU COST 925. He also currently leads three multidisciplinary nationally funded research projects and supervises 9 PhD students. He has published in excess of 40 peer review papers. He provides back-up to the Teagasc pig advisory team and is involved in the development and delivery of training courses for pig producers, the meat industry, the feed industry and financial institutions.
